DPSS have been tasked with removing redundant Lead Cables from London Undergrounds Northern Line tunnel Network that were installed during WW2 to safeguard National important defence communications.
With no available archive of what has been previously recovered DPSS are working between Waterloo and South Wimbledon Stations including Station inverts.
Removal of these 3 cables will hand back premium tunnel and invert cable route capacity to London Underground for future works.
Additionally all cable is being recycled at designated recycling centres in London and removes any environmental threat to staff, passengers and contractors commuting or working in these areas.
Currently DPSS have removed 150 Tonnes of cable creating 10Km of spare cable route capacity for London Underground.
