History

DPSS Cabling Services Limited were formed at the beginning of 1990. The initial purpose of the company was to provide design, installation and management of voice and data structured cabling solutions to commercial businesses mainly in London and the south east but as far as Kazakhstan, Poland, Turkey, Milan and Luxembourg.

In the early nineties DPSS made a Strategic change in Direction when selected by Pilkington to install Communication Equipment in over fifty London Underground stations and depots, on the £10M Central Line Project. Following this involvement DPSS then secured LUL Corporate Registered Contractor approval, developing their reputation for service and quality within the rail industry whilst becoming one of the small number of Specialist Communications Contractors that specialise in LUL & Railtrack Communication works.

In 1995 DPSS were appointed by BICC Cables (now Corning Cables) to install fibre optic cabling throughout the Northern and Jubilee Line railway systems and to install small amounts of Mechanical Cable Routes.

The company grew rapidly securing many contracts during the nineties, by which time the Project Team had developed, with greater emphasis on internal quality, safety and expertise. Personnel were appointed, enrolled and trained to cope with a fast growing business within a demanding marketplace

Following this success we secured our first major project with Network Rail in 1998 for Corning Cables installing SPT Cabling, SPT’s and associated minor civil works required (all on the WARM Project).

By the end of the century DPSS Cabling Services had acquired ISO 9000, Link Up and NICEIC approved status as well as being a member of the British Safety Council.

Into the new millennium DPSS has strived to increase its profile within the rail industry by delivering a cost effective, quality, on time service whilst ensuring a safe working environment.

In 2001 DPSS were awarded another major rail telecommunications contract with inclusion on the Connect project installing Station Containment Systems, Communications Cabling and Communications Cabinets, mainly on the shared LUL/Railtrack stations. This project succeeded in achieving 3 Million Safe Working Hours.

In late 2004 DPSS secured their biggest contract when Multiplex selected them to install Mechanical & Electrical Enabling Works within the LUL Depot area at the prestigious Westfield shopping development. Works included design & installation of temporary cable routes (for service diversions) and site wide enabling works, installation of M&E requirements within 2 new sub-station buildings housed within a listed building. DPSS also designed all Fibre Optic & Copper cable routes and installed, terminated and tested all the Service Diversion Cables required throughout the Depot and adjacent stations (all for Thales)

Based in Uxbridge Middlesex, DPSS has invested in its premises, personnel and systems to attain Company Management Systems to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System. DPSS has in place a Safety Management System that aligns to ISo 45001 (Health & Safety) and accreditation to this standard is planned.

Safety and service have always been at the forefront of the DPSS agenda. This is reflected within the company’s strategy and the desire to create a safe working environment on every project that is undertaken.

DPSS has grown steadily since the early nineties, progressing and developing its service to include installation of cable containment to the design and installation of linear cabling systems for the rail industry.

DPSS plans to continue working within the Rail Environment and delivering first class solutions.

DPSS will soon be celebrating 35 years trading.
