Whitechapel station is one of the central London Crossrail interfacing stations. In 2012 enabling works started on Whitechapel Station preparing for the heavy civils programmes which would transform Whitechapel Station.
Part of the early works required the sterilisation of the East Side of the Station to allow existing structures to be removed to make way for the new Ticket Hall and connecting concourses.
The vast majority of services were relocated to the TTH (Temporary Ticket Hall) on the west side of the station however a number of station-to-station services running up to the retaining trackside walls had to remain in place.
These retained services were put into a temporary fixed state to allow for the heavy civils works to proceed.
DPSS were tasked with the removal of existing redundant CMS and to provide temporary support to signals, comms and LV cables.
The removal of CCTV cameras and associated power cables and junction boxes
The removal of redundant cables on platform 5 & 6
The removal of existing hangers to be replaced with bespoke hangers
Installation of CMS, including on Bridge D124b
Installation of additional CMS/Bracketry for the support of HV cables (F721) and recolation of cable F721
All works completed on time and in budget
